Contrary to popular belief, fostered by alarming articles which have come to fill the popular press with an incomplete picture of what is going on, it appears that the amount of ice in the antarctic is actually increasing rather than decreasing.
Do I think we should be panicking if the Northwest Passage opens up more regularly while the Eastern Antarctic Ice Shelf expands? No.
